Parenting Tips

Here are some useful pointers for first-time mothers as well as mothers with a new addition to the family.
  • Give healthy snacks - If your child doesn’t eat at mealtimes, offer a nutritious snack such as fresh fruit, vegetables or cheese and crackers a few hours later. Even if he does not eat the snack, he’ll usually eat at the next meal. With this approach, you can be sure your child won’t have poor diet.
  • Follow the stomach - Teach your child a valuable life lesson by not forcing him to clean his plate. Give him small quantities of food first then allow him to ask for more. Allowing him to stop eating when he feels he had enough will help him maintain healthy eating patterns in adult life.
  • Take advantage of hunger - A great way to get your child to try new foods is to introduce them when you know he is hungry or at snack time. Trying them at the end of meal might encourage him to refuse if he is already nearly full.
  • Be sure about vitamins - Growing children should have a vitamin-rich diet if you want to keep them in good health. Vitamin B complex is essential for growth and development, and one of the best sources is yoghurt. Ensure they have at least four servings a week.
  • Mini marvels - Try to make eating fun for the children. Know their preferences when it comes to how food is served to make them feel comfortable. Some prefer small plates, cups and spoons, whereas others prefer to struggle with the adult versions.
  • Hide the veggie - If you attempt to hide vegetables in Bolognese, soups and stews have failed because your toddler has super sharp eyes, try pureeing them before you stir them in – most toddlers won’t pick out the taste without the texture.
  • Keep praising them - Make sure you praise your child every time he plays well with other children to reinforce his good behavior, and you can start this habit when he is still early in toddlerhood. It’s never too early to learn good manners.
